We are a small law firm in Austin, Texas, with a thriving immigration practice. Our mission is to bring peace to immigrant families. Our clients are going through one of the most important processes of their lives. The legal help we provide not only influences the lives of our clients, but also the lives of their children and grandchildren.

We are seeking a Client Engagement Coordinator to assist with onboarding new clients to the firm. You will work directly with potential new clients and you will gather information for the attorney to assess the case strategy for new clients. You will work with people who are experiencing fear of deportation, who have been victims of trafficking, domestic violence and other crimes and you must have emotional maturity. You should be outgoing, confident, smart, and a quick learner who also shows humility when you don’t know something. You should have excellent English and Spanish oral and written communication. Immigration experience and sales experience are a plus.

What are some of the characteristics that any member of our team must have?

Office culture is a big deal at our firm. You must be a positive person. If you see the glass half full, you are the type of person we are looking for. We have a zero-tolerance policy for toxic people and workplace drama. Our team is outstanding and does amazing work. We do not do well with negative attitudes, complainers, or victims, and you definitely will not fit in if you even think that you may fit into one of the above categories of negative people. “That’s not my job” is not a phrase that exists in our office. We have a supportive team culture and fitting into this culture is the primary job requirement.

We need people who are not afraid of computers or learning new things that will make their jobs easier. You must be proficient with Word, Google Drive, and basic case management software. Also, we’re looking for someone who not only “follows” policies and procedures, but also embraces them and is thankful they exist because they allow us to provide more quality legal services efficiently. You must enjoy developing and implementing systems and continually improving them.

We need high energy and enthusiasm for the work we do (and life in general). You must be able to work fast and change gears quickly. You must be able to think on your feet and make smart decisions.

You also need to be detail-oriented. We help a lot of people. Working fast is no excuse for careless mistakes. No one’s life should be negatively impacted because our firm didn’t meet a deadline or made an avoidable error or oversight. It can’t happen.

You must be willing to go the extra mile to get the job done right the first time. In our practice getting it done right the first time for our clients is very important and we need everyone to work with this goal in mind.

You must, must, must have emotional intelligence and empathy. You must have compassion for our clients and for humankind. You cannot be someone who does not take criticism well or cannot deal well with people. Some of our clients have bad days, can be royal pains, and do not always make good life choices. They are dealing with a complex and confusing legal system – on top of everything they encounter in their daily lives. Sometimes they take it out on their legal team. If you do not think that you are up to the challenge of helping sometimes difficult clients, this is not the job for you.

To put it simply, we want you to do good work and lead our team to rally around our clients to help solve their legal problems. We want people who want to fight for immigrants’ rights.
