This week we honored Dr. Martin Luther King’s Jr., whose life and work impacted people of color from around the country, including immigrants. Dr. King was a champion of voting rights, which are especially important now as we head into a new election season.
If you recently became a citizen, make sure you are registered to vote here: votetexas.gov. The deadline to register is January 31, 2022.
Our second show talks about the significance of the Section 245(i) Adjustment of Status law.
Any immigrant who was petitioned through immigration by an employer or relative before April 30, 2001 qualifies for this adjustment.
Siblings of U.S. citizens and adult children of permanent residents usually face a 20 year wait for their case. Since we are approaching the 20th anniversary of this law taking effect, you may now be eligible to finally begin taking action on your case without having to leave the country!
A cornerstone of this law is that it does not matter how the individual entered the country, so if you think you may qualify, call or text us for a free consultation to review your options.
Stay warm, friends!
