Since its rebranding in 2013, the organization has focused on strengthening its artists’ practices and acquiring work from international artists. Its new mandate calls for commissioning works by internationally recognized artists and exhibiting related bodies of work at the Jones Center.

In addition to its two main locations, the Contemporary Austin is also home to The Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park. The park was created in New York and includes important works by artists. This year, the Contemporary’s collection will be enhanced by a $9 million grant from the Dallas Marcus Foundation.

The Contemporary Austin’s Crit Group is an artist-run group that meets monthly to discuss artists’ practices. The current exhibition features work by eight talented local artists. It includes painting, sculpture, textiles, video, and photography. The exhibit will also include a performance by a group of young artists. The group’s goal is to strengthen the local Austin artistic community through professional development and critique.

The organization is a collaborative organization that emphasizes the role of women in creating art. It is also a performing arts group that offers a robust program of events. It has been a part of the SXSW festival for many years. The gallery has collaborated with many Austin organizations and exhibited nationally. It was the first organization in Texas to receive a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for visual art.

The Contemporary Crit Group program strives to create a supportive community of artists. The group works to create meaningful experiences for the public by fostering connections between artists. It also seeks to expand the conversation around contemporary art through education. It has a strong educational program that incorporates youth programs such as Second Saturdays.
